About us
Welcome to Village Beat, where we believe that events keep the community heart pumping.
About Village Beat
I was talking with an out-of-area visitor at an event recently, and off the top of my head I listed half a dozen other events that were happening in the area at the same time. It wasn’t hard as I’m constantly researching for this site. My family and friends giggle that I always know, and our social lives are certainly not dull. But whether you’re local, and especially if you’re out of area, it’s hard to follow every venue, every media and let’s face it, it’s near impossible to read every newsletter we’ve subscribed to.
We can’t help you keep on top of everything, but we aim to showcase as many local events as possible (actually, the goal is to list ALL of them!) and make it easy for you to find them.
There is always something going on, whatever your interests, and we’re digging deep into what’s happening across the regions to bring you comprehensive event guides so you never have to worry about missing out. We personally talk to each and every venue and event organiser listed on this site. Venues and organisers have either submitted their events via the online forms or provided the details directly to us, as well as sharing their news, stories and other information.
We want to inspire you to get out to local events and explore beyond your backyard, and give you articles, tips and resources to enjoy them in full as well as meet the people who put them on for you. You can fill your calendar with events that will let you see, hear, taste, touch, and immerse yourself in the experiences that local talent provides.
Ultimately, we want to make it EASY! Easy to add your events and easy to find events. You just have to choose which ones to go to.
If you’d like to let us know about your event, venue or organisation, you can find all the details on the Participate page.
And to locals and visitors alike – please go out, enjoy, celebrate and support our vibrant communities.
About us
I have been fortunate to have had an extensive and colourful career in events, media and marketing, and I have worked with inspiring and fascinating people across numerous industries.
I am an award winning author of a parenting book which was developed into a digital publication and community newsletter. Much of the Calendar section of that publication, which originally focussed on family and child-friendly events but was shelved after 2020-2021, was the inspiration for Village Beat and has been reimagined to include events for all ages and lots of fun extras to inspire your participation.
Since moving to the south coast in 2022, I have been a part of the teams at River of Art, Narooma Oyster Festival, Wanderer Festival and NelliJam, and out of area working on the Big Red Bash and Mundi Mundi Bash.
I am so excited to be developing Village Beat, and eager for our team to promote regional artists and events.
This is new and we will continue to share the story of how this grows.
